Hair Loss Breakthroughs

March 31, 2009 – Hair Club, a proud sponsor of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) will be attending their 17th annual Scientific Meeting in Amsterdam this July. The ISHRS is a non-profit medical organization of over 700 physicians specializing in alopecia and hair loss. They provide continuing education to physicians dedicated to hair transplant and hair restoration surgery.

To stay on the cutting edge of ever changing hair replacement and restoration technology, Hair Club will be attending this conference to discuss the latest topics and advancements in the field. All top names in the industry will be attending and in some cases lecturing on areas ranging from Frontal Hair Design to Trichophytic Closures. The primary purpose of this conference is to educate physicians on best practices and emerging new technologies.

Hair transplants, one type of hair restoration, date as far back as the 19th century, but needless to say those early approaches left something to be desired. By and large modern hair transplantation begins with Dr. Norman Orentreich in the United States in the late 1950s. Dr. Orentreich proposed the idea of “donor dominance”, a notion that grafts continue to show characteristics of the donor site after they have been transplanted to a new site.

Modern hair restoration has evolved into what’s known as a Follicular Unit Transplantation approach, meaning hair is now transplanted in smaller groups of 1-3 hairs – identical to how it grows naturally. These results are undetectable, and the closest to nature. As a company that offers state-of-the-art Microscopic Follicular Unit Hair Transplants, Hair Club is excited to be an active participant at the annual ISHRS Scientific Meeting.

Hair Club’s involvement with the ISHRS, allows them to continually incorporate developments into their hair restoration technology and provide a network of physicians exclusively devoted to advancements in hair transplantation.

Hair Club is the largest company in the hair restoration and hair replacement industry, with more than 90 hair loss treatment centers throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The company was founded in 1976 by Sy Sperling, known by the trademark phrase “I’m not just the president, I’m also a client.”.
