June 1, 2010 – For the 6th consecutive year, Hair Club, is offering competitive educational scholarship opportunities for the children of their corporate and franchise employees. The winners of two (2) individual $2,000 scholarships will be announced on June 1, 2010.
In 2004, Hair Club, an innovator in hair loss treatments for men and women, proudly established The Pedro Baez Scholarship Fund to support deserving young students in their continued pursuit of academic excellence.
Pedro Baez was the co-owner of the Hair Club hair replacement franchise in Puerto Rico, and was an accomplished tennis, soccer and volleyball player who was accepted into college on an athletic scholarship. Mr. Baez unfortunately passed away when he was only 30 years old, after years of struggling with an incurable heart disease. Despite his short time with Hair Club, Pedro accomplished many things in his life and was a loving husband and father, as well as a successful businessman.
For eligibility, scholarship program applicants must have maintained a minimum 2.5 GPA or better in their current school at either the high school or college level, and had to demonstrate an established track record of extra-curricular activities, including volunteer work. Each submission will include a 500+ word essay as to why the student feels deserving of this honor. Submissions will be reviewed and judged by a panel of three corporate office management staff.
“Once again we are honored to be a source of opportunity in the continued education of the children of our employees,” said Michele Graves, VP of Human Resources, who administers the scholarship competition.
Hair Club is very proud of the accomplishments of all the talented student applicants and wishes them continued success in all of their future endeavors. This year’s two winners will be announced June 1, 2010.
