Hair Club, North America’s largest provider of all proven hair restoration services, today announces the recipients of the 2012 Pedro Baez Scholarship fund. For eight years the scholarships have been awarded to deserving students in remembrance of Pedro Baez, former co-owner of the Hair Club® center in Puerto Rico.
“Hair Club is very proud of the accomplishments of this year’s Pedro Baez Scholarship Fund recipients,” states Michele Chappell, Hair Club VP of Human Resources. “This year we were thrilled to offer one additional scholarship allowing us to provide even further enrichment opportunities for the children of our employees.”
Pedro Baez was a dedicated and valued member of the Hair Club® family, as well as a loving husband and father. A co-owner of the Puerto Rico Hair Club center, Baez attended college on an athletic scholarship and remained active in several sports until his untimely death at the age of 30 from heart disease. The Pedro Baez Scholarship Fund was established in 2004 in his honor to support promising young students in their academic pursuits.
Awarded to children of Hair Club corporate and franchise employees, the scholarship is open to matriculating students of two- or four-year colleges who have a minimum 2.5 GPA and demonstrated a commitment to extracurricular activities and volunteerism. Applicants must also submit a 500-word essay detailing why they feel they are deserving of the scholarship. This year’s scholarship recipients include:
